     The refrigerator is one of the most important appliances in any kitchen décor.  Most people like to choose their refrigerator and then match the other appliances to it  when it comes to style and color.  Side-by-side refrigerators are ideal for those with less space to open a refrigerator door.  This style is much easier to organize since the unit is taller than a traditional freezer-on-top model and offers more shelf space.  The traditional freezer-on-top style is still popular and found in many kitchens.  The freezer-on-the-bottom style is another choice available to consumers.  Every style offers its own set of unique features, so be sure to determine what you want in a refrigerator before going out to shop.

     The oven or range is another important major kitchen appliance that needs to be chosen carefully.  Are you a serious cook?  How often do you entertain guests?  The very first decision to be made when considering the purchase of an oven is whether you prefer gas or electric.  Once you’ve decided on that feature, the size of your oven or range should be considered.  The optimal space-saving choice is what most of us think of as the single unit stovetop and oven.  This is the ideal choice for those with smaller kitchens.  Serious cooks and those who love to entertain may want to go larger with a commercial style range that features 4 to 8 burners.  Modular cook tops offer several additional add-ons such as griddles, steamers, and grills, to name a few.  Consumers can also choose separate oven units that allow them to cook several dishes at one time, which is perfect for the home that entertains often.

     The dishwasher is another major appliance on which you’ll decide when it comes to kitchen décor.  Dishwashers manufactured today are much more energy efficient and quieter.  Consumers can choose from models that are the traditional white or black colors to match several styles of décor.  However, stainless steel dishwashers look fantastic in a kitchen where the other major kitchen appliances are also stainless steel.  Dishwashers come with simple cycles such as light, normal or heavy.  The higher-end models offer wash cycles designed for china, pots and pans, and even crystal, in addition to your regular wash cycles.  For top energy efficiency, choose a dishwasher that heats the water internally and features an air-dry option. 

     For years, chest freezers and upright freezers have been kept in basements or garages for extra storage.  A chest freezer uses less electricity than an upright, but requires a complete defrost once each year.  The upright style freezer uses more electricity than a deep chest freezer, but comes with a frost-free feature.  Depending on your food storage requirements and usage, either one of these freezer styles will serve you well.  In addition to these more traditional freezer options, there is also an undercounter freezer on the market today.  The undercounter freezer is an ideal option for kitchens with a bit of extra space under a counter or freestanding island.  Frozen food is readily accessible and can save more money because the food items aren’t’ out of sight, so they’re used up in a timely manner.
